Beyond Bricks and Mortar: Finding Your Place in Ireland

And Having Fun Doing It! — By Ciara Sheahan

When people ask me what a buyer’s agent actually does, I usually smile. On paper, it sounds very corporate: sourcing, visiting, evaluating, and negotiating properties. But if you’ve ever watched me on RTÉ’s This Crowded House you’ll know that for me, property is never just about the bricks and mortar. It’s about communication, the team, and helping people find exactly what is right for them. Acting as a buyer’s agent is a deeply dynamic, caregiving role, and honestly? It’s also great fun.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of guiding both national and international clients through the chaotic, exciting journey of making Ireland their home. My clients are often high-level achievers, busy professionals, and their families trying to navigate a brand-new country or a challenging market. They have the vision, but they don’t have the time to filter through endless listings or spend their weekends driving across counties for viewings.

That’s where I step in.

The Full-Service Sanctuary

When you work with a buyer’s agent, you aren’t just hiring someone to look at Daft.ie for you. You are hiring an experienced local who knows the lie of the land. An evaluator, and a relationship builder. I manage the entire lifecycle of the move:

Sourcing & Scopes

Hunting down the perfect property—whether it’s an urban Dublin dwelling or a sprawling countryside family home.

The Groundwork

Visiting and rigorously evaluating properties to ensure they match up to reality.

The Art of the Deal

Taking the stress out of the room by negotiating sales processes and complex lease agreements on your behalf.

The Final Handshake

Meeting every practical need. Because a house isn't a home until the lights are on, I stay engaged with my clients all the way down to securing the best local utility providers and having their first pint of Guinness. In the past I’ve gone car shopping, bathroom shopping, found the best media wall installers, delivered fruit baskets and bed linen, visited creches and introduced neighbours.

Why I Love What I Do

Drop us a line on our contact page, and let’s start finding your place in Ireland!

For international families moving here, relocating to Ireland is a generation-defining milestone. It marks the start of a new chapter. To be the person who holds their hand through that transition, shields them from the stress, and gives them the keys to their future is incredibly rewarding. It is the best part of working in the property market.  Meeting clients later in the year ,when they have enjoyed their first Christmas or Summer  is lovely to see.

It takes a lot of energy, a lot of driving, and a deep understanding of human behaviour. Bridging the gap between a stressful property search and a positive environment where a family can thrive makes it all worthwhile.

Some of the companies we have worked with include Irish Relocation Services, LSS  Relocations UK looking after top international clients and their families. We also cater for private individuals relocating who need everything from new homes, to new cars to new schools.
